Michael VIII Palaeologus, with Andronicus II, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 27 mm, 1.94 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, 1272-1282. Facing bust of St. Demetrius, in military attire, holding spear in his right hand and shield, decorated with star, in his left; around, traces of legend. Rev. Archangel Michael standing facing, placing his hands gently on the heads of Michael VIII, kneeling facing on the left and holding labarum in his right hand, and of Andronicus II, kneeling facing on the right and holding labarum in his left; both holding sword between them. DOC 212. Lianta -. SB 2322. Rare. Small hole and some breaks in patina, otherwise, good fine.
